With a carrying capacity of 24,116 TEU (standard 6 m container), MSC China is one of the world's largest container ships delivered, surpassing Ever Alot - a ship with a capacity of 24,004 TEU. MSC China was built by Hudong Zhonghua Shipyard (HZS), a subsidiary of China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC).

According to Gu Lijun, technical director at HZS, the largest series of container ships includes 4 ships, of which MSC China was the last to be delivered. The first ship, MSC Tessa, was delivered in March.

MSC China is 399.99 m long, 61.5 m wide and 33.2 m high, with a deck as wide as about 4 standard football fields. The maximum number of stacked containers can be up to 25, equivalent to the height of a 22-storey building. The ship can carry more than 240,000 tons of goods.

MSC China is equipped with environmentally friendly high-tech equipment, such as desulfurization towers. The ship has a small pear-shaped bulge, large diameter propellers and energy-efficient ducts.

In addition, the ship for the first time uses a bubble drag reduction system and a coaxial generator motor system, allowing the ship to carry more cargo, while consuming less fuel and emitting less CO2. With an energy efficiency design index (EEDI) and optimized fuel consumption, the ship can reduce emissions by about 6,000 tons per year.

To date, Jiangnan Shipyard and HZS, two subsidiaries of CSSC, have developed and delivered 13 super-large container ships, among the largest in the world, turning Shanghai into one of the centers for research, development and shipbuilding. super large containers of the world.
