Losing 2 engines in mid-air, the plane crashed into a building causing a catastrophic accident
Most of the people who died in this 1992 air crash were not passengers on the plane.
More than three decades have passed since the El Al 1862 plane crashed shortly after it took off from Amsterdam on October 4, 1992. Accordingly, this air accident has caused extremely heavy damage and left an unforgettable tragedy for the Dutch people.
Cargo flight
On October 4, 1992, flight El Al 1862 was expected to have two cargo routes departing at JFK Airport in New York, USA. After stopping at Amsterdam Schiphol (AMS), the Netherlands, it will refuel, double-crew and make a second leg from Amsterdam to Israel's national airline hub at Tel Aviv Ben Airport. Gurion (TLV).

During the first flight, the aircraft encountered an unfortunate incident when it suddenly experienced a speed fluctuation on autopilot. In addition, the crew is also said to have had to deal with radio wave issues, as well as fluctuating generator voltage levels on the plane's third engine. However, the flight then landed safely in Amsterdam at 14:40 (local time) without damage.
After completing the crew change and refueling process, the plane started taking off at 18:14, much later than the original scheduled take-off time of 17:30.
Fatal accident
Despite successfully taking off, just a few minutes later, this Boeing encountered a terrible incident. Specifically, after flying to an altitude of 1981 meters, at 18:28, the plane's No. 3 engine (and corresponding pylon) suddenly fell from the plane's wing.

When this 3rd engine separated from the wing, it accidentally collided with the nearby 4th engine, causing the 4th engine and its turret to immediately separate from the aircraft. At the time, the crew believed that the engine just lost power, not completely decoupled. They immediately declared an emergency and asked to return to Schiphol airport and land on runway 27.
However, their wishes never came true when the plane gradually lost control due to loss of engines. Finally, the El Al 1862 plane went straight down and unfortunately crashed between two apartment blocks in the Bijlmermeer neighborhood of Amsterdam at 6:35 pm and caused a fierce fire.

The tragic scene at the apartment building was hit by the plane
This catastrophic collision left 4 people on the plane (2 pilots, 1 flight engineer and 1 El Al employee traveling as passengers), 39 people on the ground died and 26 people were injured. .
After a thorough investigation, experts discovered that the cause of the aircraft engine failure was that the fuse pins holding the engine posts in place were cracked due to overload. This caused the 3rd motor to break, which then resulted in the 4th motor to separate.
